A lot of factors goes into managing diabetes. Learn from the best at the Diabetes Center at Cookeville Regional.

The team at the Diabetes Center at Cookeville Regional Medical Center is committed to helping you or your loved one successfully manage diabetes using the latest education available. The center provides comprehensive diabetes education to those who have been diagnosed with pre-diabetes or diabetes.

While there is currently no cure for diabetes, it can be controlled, allowing people to have full, productive lives. There are many factors to consider. From diet, medication and education, our team helps you achieve the best possible outcomes, helping people with diabetes live long and healthy lives.

The Diabetes Center offers education services focusing on teaching self-management skills to patients with diabetes and their families. The program utilizes a team approach in developing an individualized plan for each participant.

The Diabetes Center staff are certified diabetes educators, including a registered nurse and a dietitian. Since 1998, our program has been an American Diabetes Association Recognized Program, which means we meet the National Standards for Diabetes Self-Management Education.

The Diabetes Center has earned the prestigious American Diabetes Association Education Recognition Certificate for quality diabetes self-management education and support (DSMES) service. This designation means that the ADA has found that Cookeville Regional offers the type of high-quality education that is an essential component of effective diabetes treatment.

The program does require a physician referral. Some insurance plans, including Medicare, recognize the benefits of diabetes self-management training and may pay a percentage, excluding co-pays and deductibles. If you are unsure as to whether diabetes self-management is covered by your insurance plan, the staff at the Diabetes Center will be glad to check your insurance coverage.
