The Birthing Center offers a three week class that covers prenatal care, childbirth and infant care. These classes are designed to cover information you need to know for the baby and delivery process. We encourage you to be an active participant in your care. That task is much easier if you are fully informed of your options and understand the birthing process.
Our childbirth education classes are taught by experienced obstetrical nurses and enhance your knowledge of labor, delivery and recovery. The topics of anatomy and physiology of pregnancy, relaxation techniques, medications and pain relief options are all covered. The series also touches on basic infant care and self-care for the postpartum period, as well as breastfeeding.
You may sign up for childbirth classes before you are even showing or in your second or third trimester. Couples can attend childbirth classes up to 40 weeks. However, it is recommended by The Birthing Center staff that you sign up to attend the class at 36 weeks or less.
Childbirth classes are held each month in the CRMC Education Center at the hospital. You will park in the emergency room parking lot and enter through the East Entrance. Follow the signs to Education Center Room 3.
