Our radiation therapy team is equipped with the most advanced radiation therapy planning tools so that the most accurate target is achieved so higher doses of radiation can be utilized while minimizing the dose to surrounding tissues.

Another advanced radiation treatment modality that is available at Cookeville Regional Medical Center is Tomotherapy®. Tomotherapy® one of the world’s most advanced cancer treatment systems. The Cancer Center at Cookeville Regional is proud to be the second facility in Tennessee to offer this revolutionary treatment. With Tomotherapy®, the skilled staff at CRMC can sculpt small, powerful and precise radiation beams to hit hard to reach areas.

The TomoTherapy ® Hi Art treatment system looks like a CT scanner because it contains a CT scanner’s capabilities. The system allows the treatment team to efficiently acquire 3-D images of every patient, every day. With the images, clinicians can check the size, shape and location of the tumors before each treatment. They can compare that day’s image with the one before to ensure the radiation will be delivered with extreme accuracy and more importantly, modify the treatment fields at any point during the course of therapy.

Chemotherapy is prepared on site by specially trained nurses and an oncology pharmacist. The chemotherapy room is equipped with comfortable recliners, personal televisions, warm blankets, daily lunches and a view of the healing garden. We are fortunate to employ many experienced nurses with special oncology certification who care for the patient while they receive their chemotherapy infusion.
