When Kenneth Campbell of Allardt learned he had an enlarged prostate, his family physician gave him his choice of facilities.

“I’ve always heard great things about Cookeville Regional and the doctors here, so there was no second-guessing about this being where I wanted to go,” said Campbell.

After tests revealed that Campbell had prostate cancer, he was referred to Dr. Quinton Cancel for minimally invasive surgery to remove his prostate.

“I had heard that robotic surgery is less invasive and has a quicker healing time,” said Campbell. “I learned that Dr. Cancel had trained under the physician that pioneered using the da Vinci robot, and after talking to him, I felt like he really knows what he is doing.”

Campbell came in for surgery one morning and was home the next day. Six weeks later, he was back at work.

“I don’t know if you could say a stay at a hospital is enjoyable, but I had a big time here,” said Campbell. “I just hope that if I have to come to a hospital again, it will be Cookeville Regional.”

The first hospital in Tennessee to offer robotic surgery in five specialties, Cookeville Regional is proud to have received the Healthgrades® Patient Safety Excellence Award™ for 2012, and we’re even prouder to have received — and delivered on — the trust of patients like Kenneth Campbell.
