"They made me feel like I was number one."
It was 4:30 on a Monday afternoon when Adrienne Newson heard those dreaded words: “You have cancer.” Two days later, she had surgery to remove a tumor in her breast, followed by 12 weeks of chemotherapy and 35 radiation treatments.
“When I boarded the aircraft, I thought I would be in coach,” said Newson, a former flight attendant, about her initial expectations of CRMC. “But after takeoff, I realized that there is no coach here at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. It’s all first class.”
In fact, she says she was treated so well at Cookeville Regional that when her treatments were finished, she found she missed all of the attention she had come to enjoy here. It’s that level of caring for patients that has earned Cookeville Regional the Outstanding Achievement Award from the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer. While we’re extremely proud of this level of recognition, for us, it’s these kinds of stories that really make it all worthwhile.
