New Surgeon Specializing in Bariatric Surgery Joins Cookeville Regional

Cookeville Regional Medical Center proudly welcomes surgeon Charles T. Huddleston, M.D.  He has joined the practice of Middle Tennessee Surgical Specialists with Drs. Scott Copeland, Brian Gerndt, Jeff McCarter and Jeff Moore.

Dr. Huddleston is pleased to be relocating to the Upper Cumberland area from Tullahoma and will be practicing the full spectrum of general surgery with a special interest in advanced laparoscopic cases, bariatric and metabolic surgery.

“I love the technically challenging aspects of bariatric surgery and feel that it is such a rewarding field,” said Dr. Huddleston.  “To see someone get the benefits that come with the weight loss following bariatric surgery is so very fulfilling.”

Dr. Huddleston will be offering bariatric procedures at Cookeville Regional Medical Center including laparoscopic gastric banding (lap band) and sleeve gastrectomy.

Raised nearby in Livingston where he graduated valedictorian of the class of 1993 from Livingston Academy, Dr. Huddleston received an undergraduate degree in chemistry from Tennessee Technological University and went on to receive his medical degree from East Tennessee State University James H. Quillen College of Medicine in Johnson City in 2001.  There he was selected to the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha National Medical Honor Society.  He performed his surgical residency at East Tennessee State University as well as a clinical fellowship in surgical research.  Dr. Huddleston also served twice as a medical officer in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom from 2006 to 2009.  He remains an active member of the 278th Armored Calvary Regiment, Tennessee Army National Guard as a field surgeon with the rank of Major.

Dr. Huddleston, his wife Ammie and his two sons Carter and Austin look forward to returning home and joining the Cookeville community.  Dr. Huddleston will begin seeing patients in Cookeville as of August 1 and may be reached at Middle Tennessee Surgical Specialists by calling 931-528-1992.
