Jackson Co. Central Fire Department Raises Money for Save A Life Mammogram Project

Submitted on: Monday, January 16, 2012

Cookeville, TN- Jackson County Central Fire Department began a fundraiser in October 2011 to raise money for breast cancer awareness and donate it to the Save-A-Life Mammogram Project, a fund to provide free mammograms to uninsured and underinsured patients through the Women’s Center of Cookeville Regional.

“One of the guys at the fire department was looking through a book that another fire department had sent them. In it showed a fire department raising money for breast cancer awareness through fundraising. That sparked an interest and soon after hot pink and navy blue t-shirts, hoodies and long-sleeve t-shirts were made to raise money,” Jennifer Brown, Advanced Phlebotomy Tech at Cookeville Regional and E.M.T. and fire fighter at Jackson County, said.

The whole fire department participated in selling t-shirts and hoodies to the public. In the end, they raised $5,100 and $2600 was donated to the Save-A-Life Mammogram Project through the CRMC Foundation.

Although the fundraiser ended in the middle of December 2011, there are still t-shirts for sale to continue raising money the Save A Life Mammogram Project.

For more information or to purchase a t-shirt please contact Jeffery Conn, a Captain at Jackson County Central Fire Department, at 931-704-9226.
