About the Robotics Program

The first in the state of Tennessee to offer robotic surgery across five specialties, Cookeville Regional Medical Center is indeed unique in that it now offers the option of robotic surgery in urology, gynecology, general surgery, ENT and cardiothoracic surgery. Surgeons at Cookeville Regional offering robotic surgery are urologist Quinton Cancel, M.D.; urologist Lee Moore, MD; gynecologist Bert Geer, D.O.; gynecologist Christine Pham, M.D.; gynecologist Michael Pippin, MD; surgeon Brian Gerndt, M.D.; gynecologist Paige Gernt, M.D.; E-N-T specialist Grant Rohman, M.D.; cardiothoracic surgeon Lewis Wilson, M.D.; cardiothoracic surgeon Timothy Powell, MD; general/vascular surgeon Scott Copeland, M.D. and gynecologist Michael Cole, M.D.
Since 2007 Cookeville Regional has offered robotic surgery with one of the most advanced surgical tools ever developed – the daVinci Surgical System. It’s a robotic device that enhances the skills of our nationally recognized surgeons, allowing them to perform complex and delicate procedures through tiny incisions. The smaller entry points mean less scarring and faster recovery times for patients, all while still receiving the highest level of care at Cookeville Regional.
Some of the benefits for patients include:
- Significantly less pain
- Less blood loss
- Less scarring
- Shorter recovery times
- A faster return to normal daily activities
- In many cases, better clinical outcomes
