Volunteer Services: The Auxiliary at Cookeville Regional
Volunteering… There are many reasons
Volunteering enables you to help others, share your talents and participate in the community you live in. However, there is now one more reason to volunteer – It’s healthy! Studies show that volunteers experience a greater-than-average sense of well-being, increases in optimism, and decreases in chronic pain.
What are the benefits?
Volunteering helps you maintain a healthy lifestyle by staying active and involved. By volunteering, you have the chance to help others and meet new people. You have the opportunity to broaden your skills and knowledge. But more importantly, by volunteering, you make a difference in your life and the life of someone else.
Volunteering is rewarding and fulfilling at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. Volunteers receive free meals in the cafeteria and close parking. Volunteers also enjoy an annual award and recognition banquet, as well as invitations to various hospital-sponsored social events throughout the year. Pins are also awarded to volunteers based on the number of hours they donate at the hospital each year.
What can I do?
At Cookeville Regional Medical Center, volunteers are an integral part of the hospital’s success. Volunteers fill many important roles including:
| Gift Shop | Main Information Lobby |
| Education | Lifeline |
| ICU Lobby | Pharmacy |
| Children’s Center | Surgery Lobby |
| Human Resources | Patient Visitation |
| Women’s Center | Storeroom |
| Cancer Center | Imaging |
| Customer Service | Marketing & Public Relations |
| Greeter/Roamer |
How much time is involved?
There are no time constraints when you volunteer. Most volunteers work one shift (varying from 3-4 hours) a week. Some donate more time and others volunteer when they are able. Whether working a few hours an evening or volunteering a few days a week, schedules are arranged according to your availability.
