CRMC Sports Medicine at Tennessee Tech

“A Community Partnership”
The CRMC Sports Medicine at Tennessee Tech program, conveniently located on the campus of Tennessee Tech University, offers comprehensive sports medicine services from injury prevention and conditioning to orthopedic surgery to rehabilitation.

"I elected this career path because it combined two areas of great personal interest which are sports and medicine. Having been an athlete myself, it felt natural to stay around this environment. Later on during my training, and probably due to my own share of athletic injuries, I developed a special interest for rehabilitation. I wanted to gain more knowledge regarding specific rehabilitation sciences and interventions, both in general medicine and in musculo-skeletal conditions that could help me better treat athletes. This is why I became a Doctor of physical therapy.

My recovery approach for my patients is based on one simple concept: the patient himself. To understand that every person is an individual entity, with individual needs, capabilities, and goals is the most important aspect of their recovery process. Communication is the next step in my approach to recovery, and it starts with insuring that the patient knows the key components of their injury or pathology and the steps that can be taken in order to help them resolve their physical limitations. The last component in the approach to recovery is the design and execution of a comprehensive and individualized rehabilitation program for the patient." - Mario F. Cruz, PT, DPT, SCS, ATC
