About

About

Pharmacy Services provides comprehensive pharmaceutical care services to Cookeville Regional Medical Center. Our main goal is to promote safe, effective, and economical medication therapy for our patients and to provide oversight and leadership of the medication use process.

The Department supports education of pharmacists, physicians, nurses and other healthcare professionals through active participation in the multidisciplinary care of patients. Our service ensures that medical, nursing, and pharmacy staffs are provided with patient-specific drug information in order to improve overall patient care and reduce risk of adverse drug events. Pertinent drug information and clinical decision support is provided to members of the healthcare team on a daily basis.

Our pharmacists are involved with numerous patient-care, quality, and operational committees to ensure optimal continuum of care of our patients. Drug information and disease state in-services, pharmacy newsletters, and pharmacotherapeutic presentations are all utilized by pharmacy staff to enhance knowledge of our healthcare teams.

The Pharmacy Department works closely with Administration to ensure budgetary concerns are addressed and that resources are allocated to provide optimal services to our customers including patients and the medical center staff. This relationship is also fostered through Pharmacy’s involvement with regulatory agency standard compliance.

Lastly, the Pharmacy Department believes strongly in the future of pharmacy, students and residents. Cookeville Regional Medical Center is proud to host rotation sites for students from numerous colleges of pharmacy as well as providing a PGY1 Pharmacy Practice Residency.
