Description:

This position is responsible for working directly with patients and physicians, performing a variety of specialized sonographic procedures while providing patient care and patient safety as established by department standards. This position is responsible for performing a variety of dependent and basic secretarial, clerical and housekeeping functions such as customer service, examination and work area cleaning, telephone communications, computer system data entry, information retrieval, (HIS, RIS, PACS), and infection control.  It requires independent judgement and initiative while operating diagnostic ultrasound equipment, preparing exam rooms, and keeping the ultrasound department stocked with supplies.

 EDUCATION:

 1.  Must be Registered by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers in a minimum of one certification (i.e. Abdomen, OB, etc).  Registry Eligible employees MUST obtain certification meeting the aforementioned requirement within 6 months after employment date. 

2.  Each employee is responsible for acquiring his/her own Continuing Education Credits to stay in good standing with the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers.

3.  Employee must attend all hospital mandatory in services.

4.  Must be certified in Basic Life Support.

 

EXPERIENCE:

Must have hands on scanning experience in the following modalities of ultrasound:

 

(a) OB/GYN                                       (e)  Endorectal

(b) Abdomen                                       (f)  Small Parts

(c) Vascular                                         (g)  Neonate Heads

(d) Endovaginal                                  (h) Segmental Pressure Studies

 

SKILLS:

1.  Must have the experience and ability to use color and spectral Doppler in each of the above modalities.

2.  Must be knowledgeable and skilled with different types of ultrasound equipment.

3.  Must have excellent customer service skills.

Description:

This position is responsible for performing responsible administrative, supervisory, and advanced technical work in the Ultrasound Area of The Imaging Center.  In addition to all the duties and responsibilities of a staff Sonographer, this position is responsible for supervising, delegating and directing the real time communication, resource scheduling, coordination, image quality, quality control and quality assurance, training and PAC’s functions in the Ultrasound area. The Chief  Sonographer shall supervise the technical performance of staff sonogrpahers, Echo sonographers, Senior Sonographers and patient care associates to include ultrasound examinations, PAC’s, customer service, safety, procedures, protocols and standards to achieve compliance and competency.  This position requires the ability to provide budgetary information to the Director. The supervisor must have the ability to recognize, anticipate and solve problems in a prompt and efficient manner. The Ultrasound Supervisor must work closely with The Imaging Center Director to ensure customer service success.

EDUCATION:

Registered by the American Registry of Diagnostic Sonographers.  Associates degree in

Radiologic Science or Business..  Bachelor’s degree preferred.

 

EXPERIENCE:

1.  Minimum of five years of experience in all aspects of Ultrasound with progressive management experience.

 

2.  Supervisor is responsible for acquiring his/her own Continuing Education credits to stay in good standing with the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography.

3.  Must have training and practical experience in the following areas of Ultrasound:

                       a.   Abdomen                          e.  Intracavity Exams

                       b.  OB/GYN                             f.  Any invasive study requiring

                       c.  Carotid                                   ultrasound guidance

                       d.  Vascular               

4.    Must have computer knowledge.

5.   Must be knowledgeable and skilled with different types of ultrasound equipment.

 

 

SKILLS:

1.  Must have the experience and ability to use color and doppler in each of the above                   modalities.

2.    Must be knowledgeable with different models of ultrasound equipment and have the                           skills to use them.

3.    Must be able to organize and conduct workflow and supervise staff effectively and efficiently.

Must possess excellent communication, customer service and human relations skills.
