Description:

This position oversees and manages the execution of information systems full-life cycle activities for pharmacy and medication-use projects and initiatives.  Participates as a pharmacy and medication use information system expert on pharmacy operational initiatives.  Also, coordinates medication use systems affecting any/all departments when deemed appropriate. Coordinates interdepartmental communication between the pharmacy and other departments with regard to information systems and technology. This position is responsible for pharmaceutical care of patients including all age groups (infants, pediatrics, adolescents, adults and geriatrics).  Also responsible for coordinating Pharmacy Quality Improvement activities involving medication use information systems and teaching pharmacy students and residents as well as participating in community medication education classes..  Uses knowledge and judgment to make decisions concerning patient drug therapy. 

 

  1. EDUCATION: B.S. in Pharmacy or Pharm. D. degree with required internship; completion of a clinical residency program preferred.  Must be licensed by State of Tennessee. 

 

  1. EXPERIENCE:   One-year experience as a pharmacist in a hospital setting preferred.

 

  1. SKILLS:  . Must have thorough knowledge of pharmaceutical drug distribution systems and pharmacotherapy concepts in order to resolve drug therapy related problems; must have ability to communicate effectively with patients and other healthcare professionals.

Description:

This position is responsible for pharmaceutical care of patients including all age groups (infants, pediatrics, adolescents, adults and geriatrics).  Practitioner will monitor pharmaceutical care parameters (disease states, dosages, pharmacokinetics, appropriateness of therapy, nutritional status, etc.) and make recommendations to the medical staff accordingly. Also responsible for coordinating Pharmacy Quality Improvement activities (MUEs, PI studies, chart reviews, etc.) and teaching pharmacology and community medication education classes (including the ability to assess staff pharmacist’s clinical abilities).

Good communication skills linking pharmacy, nursing service and the medical staff is mandatory. Overall goal is to enhance patient care through integration of pharmacy services into the multidisciplinary care team.

 

The operations manager will be responsible for the direction of pharmacy services activity and will directly supervise clinical pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, pharmacy residents, pharmacy students and/or pharmacy technician students.in these activities.

  1. EDUCATION: Pharm. D. degree required; minimum 5 years hospital pharmacy experience, preferably in a supervisory role.  Prior pharmacy management experience preferred. Completion of pharmacy residency preferred. Must be licensed by State of Tennessee.

 

  1. EXPERIENCE:  Five years hospital experience required and pharmacy management experience preferred. Completion of pharmacy residency preferred.

 

  1. SKILLS:  Must have an aptitude for problem solving.  Experience and basic knowledge of computer software including word processing and spreadsheets.  Must deal with organization, personnel and public demands.  Able to deal with constant pressure in changing environment.  Must possess strong oral and written communication skills, diplomacy and tact.  Demonstrates personal traits of a high level of motivation, team orientation, professionalism and trustworthiness.  Places a high value on treating others with dignity and respect. Maintains technical competence to perform functional responsibilities as needed.
