This position assists with the management of Pulmonary Critical Care Service Line patients.  In this role, the Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant will assist with patients that have been admitted into the Pulmonary Service by the pulmonologists or when the Pulmonary Service have been consulted by other physicians.  The Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant may assist the Pulmonary Service Line Physicians with admission of patients, patient rounds, consults, history and physicals, discharges and other duties with their scope of practice. 

 EDUCATION:  Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing Masters program.  Evidence of continuing education.  Current unrestricted Tennessee licensure as an Advanced Practice Nurse and RN.  Must hold a national Certification in a Nursing Specialty Area.

 EXPERIENCE:  Prefer 1-3 years NP experience with cardiac patients in acute hospital setting.  Previous experience as RN in ICU or cardiac step-down.

This position is responsible for supervising nursing clinical activities for all nursing units.  In addition, the Nursing Supervisor serves in a consultant supervision role in other hospital departments in the absence of departmental management or administration staff.  The Supervisor coordinates daily central Nursing Staff assignments, coordinates patient bed assignments, and participates in nursing and hospital wide performance improvement programs.  The position serves as a resource for nursing and ancillary staff to assist in evaluating the patient whose condition has the potential to deteriorate.

 

1.  EDUCATION:  Must be a graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing; a BSN is preferred.  Must possess a current license as a Registered Nurse from the State of Tennessee.

 

2.  EXPERIENCE:  Must have a minimum of three years experience as a staff nurse in a hospital setting.  Previous supervisory or management experience is preferred.  Three years of critical care nursing is preferred.
