This position assists with the management of Pulmonary Critical Care Service Line patients.  In this role, the Nurse Practitioner will assist with patients that have been admitted into the Pulmonary Service by the pulmonologists or when the Pulmonary Service have been consulted by other physicians.  The Nurse Practitioner may assist the Pulmonary Service Line Physicians with admission of patients, patient rounds, consults, history and physicals, discharges and other duties with their scope of practice.

Description:

This position is responsible for supervising nursing clinical activities for all nursing units.  In addition, the Nursing Supervisor serves in a consultant supervision role in other hospital departments in the absence of departmental management or administration staff.  The Supervisor coordinates daily central Nursing Staff assignments, coordinates patient bed assignments, and participates in nursing and hospital wide performance improvement programs.  The position serves as a resource for nursing and ancillary staff to assist in evaluating the patient whose condition has the potential to deteriorate.

 EDUCATION:  Must be a graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing; a BSN or MSN is preferred.  Must possess a current license as a Registered Nurse from the State of Tennessee.

 EXPERIENCE:  Must have a minimum of three years experience as a staff nurse in a hospital setting.  Previous supervisory or management experience is preferred.  Three  years of critical care nursing is preferred.

Monitor Tech:

This position is responsible for the constant monitoring of the telemetry system on the Intermediate Care Units, Medical/Surgical remote telemetry, and who assumes responsibility for clerical and receptionist functions on the unit.  The monitor technician accepts and maintains responsibility for the clerical and documentation duties related to telemetry monitoring, as well as, communicating monitored changes to the appropriate nursing unit and staff.

 EDUCATION: High school graduate.

 EXPERIENCE:  Prior experience in a hospital setting preferred.  No minimum required.

SKILLS:  Able to read and write English. BLS current or within first 90 days of employment.  Basic arrhythmia course current or successfully completed within orientation period.

Unit Secretary:

This position is responsible for all secretarial and receptionist duties and coordination of related activities of the nursing station, including coordination of critical communication between physicians, nursing, patients, families, and other health team members.  Position requires utilization of computer, verbal and written skills. 

 EDUCATION:  High school diploma (or GED).

 EXPERIENCE: Prior experience in a health care setting preferred. Basic computer skills.

 SKILLS: Familiarity with medical terminology preferred. Good verbal and written communication skills.  Able to read and write English.  Computer data entry.

Transporter:

A hospital transporter moves patients from one area of a hospital to another, and also delivers patient records, laboratory specimens and medical equipment. She /he sometimes must work the entire medical center complex to meet the needs of the patients. Hospital transporters are responsible for patient care and safety during transport.
