Description:

This position assists with the management of Pulmonary Critical Care Service Line patients.  In this role, the Nurse Practitioner will assist with patients that have been admitted into the Pulmonary Service by the pulmonologists or when the Pulmonary Service have been consulted by other physicians.  The Nurse Practitioner may assist the Pulmonary Service Line Physicians with admission of patients, patient rounds, consults, history and physicals, discharges and other duties with their scope of practice.

 EDUCATION:  Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing Masters program.  Evidence of continuing education.  Current unrestricted Tennessee licensure as an Advanced Practice Nurse and RN.  Must hold a national Certification in a Nursing Specialty Area.

 EXPERIENCE:  Prefer 1-3 years NP experience with cardiac patients in acute hospital setting.  Previous experience as RN in ICU or cardiac step-down.

 SKILLS:  ACLS, Prescriptive Authority (DEA Number), proficient in clinical skills of assessment

This position is responsible for performing basic patient care skills under the direct supervision of an RN/LPN according to established policies, procedures, and guidelines within the department and the Medical Center.

 EDUCATION: High school graduate (or have minimum of GED).

 EXPERIENCE:  Prior experience in a hospital setting preferred.  No minimum required.

 SKILLS:  Able to read and write English.  BLS current or within first 90 days of  employment.  Clinical skills to perform basic nursing care.
